Authors Deny ReadersMagnet Scam, What Says BBB

ReadersMagnet is an established self-publishing company, known for providing authors with publishing and book marketing services and representing authors in various national and international book fairs.
Despite their years of operation and over 900 titles published, ReadersMagnet, just like other business enterprises, also has a fair share of detractors. Some individuals accused ReadersMagnet of deceptive practices. However, the number remains a pale comparison to those who have testified in favor of the said company and continue to support and avail of their services.
Established in 2018, ReadersMagnet started as a self-publishing company. In less than two years, their book marketing services flourished, giving authors opportunities to expand their market with services such as radio interviews, book trailers, book displays, and book signing events in national and international book fairs, such as the Miami Book Fair, the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, and the London Book Fair. Over time, ReadersMagnet would expand this list, reaching out to Europe and eventually Asia. Ultimately, they would introduce to the world the first-ever annual virtual book fair—The Festival of Storytellers—during the height of the Covid pandemic.
Today, ReadersMagnet has grown into a formidable publishing partner and has changed the lived and literary journeys of many self-publishing and published authors.
Sincerity with Better Business Bureau since 2018
United States-based non-profit market trust advocate organization Better Business Bureau already awarded ReadersMagnet an A-rating with a summary of 17 complaints, four of which were closed in the last 12 months.
The Better Business Bureau is a private and self-regulatory organization established in 1912. The organization aims to educate consumers and advocates for businesses to operate in good faith. To achieve these goals, BBB uses a rating scale with A+ as the highest and F as the lowest in terms of degree of confidence.
ReadersMagnet applied for BBB accreditation shortly after its establishment. The first rating they received was B minus. But since then, ReadersMagnet has proven its worth and enjoys an A rating.
In 2022, the Better Business Bureau recognized ReadersMagnet’s sincerity and contribution. by naming the company as one of the finalists for its yearly BBB Torch Awards for Ethics. Finalists are chosen based on the following categories: character, culture, customer, and community. The criteria are formulated by the International Association of Better Business Bureaus. They would achieve the same feat in 2024, making them the only publishing company to be cited for excellence in ethical business practices twice in the span of four years.
The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics
The BBB Torch Awards for Ethics, initiated in 1996, recognize companies and organizations that are models of integrity and ethical leadership in all aspects of their businesses. The recipients of this award continually demonstrate solid moral character and a dedication to ethical standards that benefit their customers, employees, communities, and other stakeholders.
A company must be nominated by a customer before it can submit a formal application. An independent volunteer panel of community leaders chooses finalists on four pillars: character, culture, customer, and community. These assessments are according to standards established by the International Association of Better Business Bureaus. Qualified applicants can be for-profit businesses, large or small, and in any industry and must have a good standing with the BBB for maintaining the highest marketplace ethics.
In September of 2024, ReadersMagnet further cemented their business trustworthiness by being one of the 24 businesses recognized by the BBB Torch Awards held at La Jolla Marriott. ReadersMagnet was nominated in Category Two (2-5 Employees) and was the only publishing company and digital marketing enterprise nominated in the BBB Serving the Pacific Southwest 2024 Torch Awards.
From the Authors’ Mouths
Eleanor “Ellie” Gaccetta, the author of One Caregiver’s Journey and Generations of Good Food, commented last year in a blog post, “I have been with ReadersMagnet for two years. My first book was published by an entity that offers no services beyond publishing. I now have two excellent consultants who always respond to questions in person. I have utilized many services.”
“So far, I have not seen anything that would indicate a scam. On the contrary, I would encourage other authors to join in,” Author Vineet Verma asserted.” Ellie has verified, “The company is no scam. It is a first-class business operation with author needs at the forefront. They just recently published my second book. I couldn’t envision a better organization.”
BBB Torch Recognition as Inspiration for Further Commitment to Quality and Honest Service
“Exceptional customer service, transparency, integrity, and ethical practices are the foundation of what we do in ReadersMagnet. For a start-up like us, we are extremely thankful to be honored by the Better Business Bureau for our work and service. I thank BBB for considering ReadersMagnet for this prestigious award. While we are beyond happy to be honored by the BBB, this recognition would not have been possible without the authors’ faith in us and our team’s hard work. We also owe it to our community partners Adjoin and UPLIFT for allowing us the privilege to serve and the opportunity to create a greater impact in the community.” – Vice President John Carl O. Abines

I lost interest in Readers Magnet because certain people who were friends and associates told me that they thought Readers Magnet was a scam. I am sorry that I listened to these people who basically didn’t know anything about book publishing or the publishing industry in general. I am grateful for the exposure that Readers Magnet gave me costfree and want to take another look at what services your company can offer me now.
I have self-published 5 books with Lulu.com/Lulu Publishing of Raleigh, N.C. at no cost to myself but have never received the royalties promised in spite of the fact that I have seen used copies of my books for sale on Amazon.
