ReadersMagnet will be joining the 2022 Tucson Festival of Books to be held this March 12 to 13.

The Tucson Festival of Books is one of the most anticipated book fairs in the United States. As one of the country’s top three books events held annually, the Tucson Festival of Books gathers thousands of visitors every second week of March. Around 450 authors and 50 000 came to grace the occasion 12 years ago in its debut year. In 2017, attendance reached its peak with over 135 000 participants and visitors. Authors, literary agents, exhibitors, publishing companies, and media gather at the University of Arizona mall to celebrate stories and storytellers. Despite being a relatively new book event, the Tucson Festival of Book’s impact on the community is nothing short of exemplary.

Since its foundation, the event has raised almost $2 million and donated to agencies and programs in the hope of improving literacy rates among children and adults in Southern Arizona. Overall, the book event contributed an estimated $4million to Tucson’s economy each year. Reading Seed, Literacy Connects, and University of Arizona Literacy Outreach Programs are some of the beneficiaries of the Tucson Festival of Books.

Despite last year’s pandemic, the organizers of the Tucson Festival of Books organized a virtual book event of which ReadersMagnet became a part.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Tucson Festival of Books organizers were forced to cancel the 2020 event. However, in 2021, the organization bounced back and successfully held a virtual Tucson Festival of Books, supported by authors, retailers, and fans of the yearly event. ReadersMagnet was among those who eagerly participated in the said event, held last March 6 and 7. With vaccination rollout implemented last year and the number of cases decreasing, the organizers decided that this year’s Tucson Festival of Books will be a physical book event. ReadersMagnet also held its own virtual book fair, see here https://www.thefestivalofstorytellers.com/register/

With this development, ReadersMagnet has already made preparations to ensure its participation in this year’s TFOB2022. This is a special homecoming event, and the Tucson Festival of Books will return to its original venue- The University of Arizona Mall. Once again, its open-grounds and friendly-pedestrian will be filled with thousands of book vendors, exhibitors, authors, retailers, artists, tourists, and book lovers.

Being one of the biggest and well-attended book fairs of the past decade, media mileage is also expected to make a return. Local and international media will surely flock to cover the two-day event.

Authors and visitors will surely make the most of the Tucson Festival of Books as it is designed to be a memorable experience for everyone.

Participants can expect a variety of programs for kids, writers, visitors, and event tourists. Aside from exhibitor booths featuring books and authors, book signing events, free panel discussions, performances, and other literary activities will also feature. Although events are for free, special panels require participants to secure advance tickets (also for free). Visitors and participants can also check the university’s museums and galleries, adjacent historic neighborhoods, and the nearby Main Gate Square shopping-and-dining corridor either by hiking or by renting the yellow Tugo bikes for these short excursions. The 2022 Tucson Festival of Books is expected to be a blast and full of surprises, as this is the first time in a long while that organizers and participants will see each other once again.
