ReadersMagnet is one of the few U.S.-based companies at the concluded Hong Kong Book Fair 2023. The self-publishing and marketing agency from San Diego opens the door for American indie authors to enter the world of Asian thinking, culture, and language.

The presence of ReadersMagnet at the Hong Kong Book Fair (HKBF) proves the authenticity of the company’s commitment to indie authors. It verifies the vision to share the stories of self-published authors with the world. From The London Book Fair last April to the Frankfurt Book Fair this October, our attendance at the HKBF 2023 solidifies our goal to expose writers to international book events.

A Book Fair with Almost a Million Fairgoers

The Hong Kong Book Fair almost reached the goal of having a million attendees this year. HKTDC (Hong Kong Trade Development Council), the book fair organizer, reported 990,000 total attendance at the event. Indeed, it confirms that Asians, especially Chinese, are book enthusiasts.

With that, the 25 book titles of ReadersMagnet at the Hong Kong Book Fair were able to sell 102 copies. Sourced from the city’s Trade and Development Council, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that visitors spent about HK$872 (US$111) each at the joint event comprising the Hong Kong Book Fair, the Sports and Leisure Expo, and the World of Snacks.

An Interview with South China Morning Post

ReadersMagnet has been a regular exhibitor of book fairs across the United States. Gaining the attention of the South China Morning Post was an honor not only for ReadersMagnet but also for the authors and book titles we represented and exhibited at HKBF. The other networks that interviewed our leaders include RTHK English News and Phoenix Satellite Television Co., Ltd.

Surrounded by brands with Chinese characters, it was easy for SCMP to notice ReadersMagnet at the Hong Kong Book Fair. The Hong Kong-based media company has been reporting on China and Asia for more than a century now. SCMP has been a reliable entity covering HKBF for a considerable time now. A Future in Asia for American Indie Authors

As Mr. Perez shared with SCMP, the Hong Kong Book Fair is “the gateway to Asia.” It’s the path for American authors to gain readership in the Orient. It’s a medium for independent authors to reach a wider audience, especially for books with genres inclusive of all cultures.

Bridging cultural and linguistic gaps could help both readers and writers understand the world around us. Whether you like it or not, globalization requires us to understand what is happening in the self-publishing industry from a global perspective. ReadersMagnet is more than prepared to help you navigate not only the industry but the world at large through national and international book fairs.

We want to thank authors who trusted us in bringing their books and names to Asia through the Hong Kong Book Fair. We look forward to bringing more authors and titles in the future.
