While traveling on the Oregon Trail, Jillian Colligan, Andrea Farrell, Gwen Atwood, and Samantha Tyson, become friends. Jillian's being sold to an old man by her cruel father; Andrea and Gwen are pregnant, and unhappily married to men who are a great deal years older, while Samantha has just lost her parents, traveling with her older brothers.
Before they reach their final destination, each of their lives has drastically changed and when they each receive unanticipated marriage proposals from strangers, they must make a hasty decision, one that will affect their lives forever.
