Description

Sammie is sad because of loneliness but as he gradually meets other creatures of the jungle he finds he isn't alone. Despite each being a different creature they each find they all have something in common. As their friendship grows they realize they are no longer lonely and the differences don't matter. The story tries to show children that differences do not have to lead to loneliness. Happiness grows as you overcome your sadness with friendships.

Elaine Vanderberg

Elaine Vanderberg, grew up in St. Joseph, MI, went to Kalamazoo college and graduated from MSU where she met her husband. Together they were blessed with three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandsons. When her 7-year old granddaughter asked for a bedtime story, Elaine, a voracious reader since childhood, found a story coming to mind. Years later she submitted it and surprisingly found it accepted. Now there are three more stories in the series to join the first. The stories are meant to tell children “Believe in yourself, no matter the obstacles.” Elaine now lives on the shores of beautiful Crystal Lake, Frankfort Michigan with her cats.
